The RIMAP
Network is
subproject of RIMAP
Project (GROWTH
Project GRD1-2000-25852 RIMAP) aimed to improve current
practice to inspection and maintenance planning in European industry.
RIMAP
project introduces on the European level the new technology for taking
Risk
Based decisions, the technology which is emerging within a broad range
of
sectors, and has proven to be a very efficient tool. Main goal of RIMAP
Network
is to provide a platform for the interested parties in Europe to (a)
know more
about the work done in RIMAP and (b) express their needs and wishes and
thus
influence the work and results in RIMAP. This will be achieved through
a series
of dissemination and training and education (transfer of technology)
actions
addressing (a) partners within the RIMAP, (b) EU partners outside RIMAP
and
other non-EU parties, thus assuring that RIMAP results evolve into a
unified
European and globally accepted approach for risk based maintenance and
inspection planning. Furthermore, RIMAP Network will provide basis
(technical
framework) for European standard and general future standardisation in
this
area. Co-operation with this wide range of organisations through the
RIMAP
network is planned.
As RIMAP RTD
and
Demonstration project,
RIMAP Network also addresses the Competitive and Sustainable Growth
Programme
primarily within the areas: Key Action 1,
TRA 1.9: Safe and cost-effective industrial facilities, construction
and civil
infrastructure and its objective 5.4: "expanding the limits and
durability
of materials" and the following type of industries: petrochemical,
chemical, steel works and the power industry – the techniques can
easily be
extended and be used in other industry sectors as well, and this
extension (e.g.
towards paper industry) is one of the objectives in the project.
Apart from the
objectives
shared with
RIMAP RTD and Demonstration project (e.g.: to define a unified approach
to
making risk based decisions within the field of inspection and
maintenance,
improved safety for plant personnel and the society en-large,
cost-optimised
inspection/maintenance plans, etc.) RIMAP Network will address the
following
objectives:
-
dissemination
of RIMAP (RTD & Demonstration project) results within the
RIMAP-Consortium
related partners in EU industry, not participating in RIMAP RTD &
Demonstration project
-
assure
feedback of RIMAP Network partners (as a representative group of
European
companies) to the work and results within the RIMAP RTD and
Demonstration (RTD
& Demonstration project)
-
dissemination of RIMAP (RTD &
Demonstration project) results to other EU industry (e.g. paper
industry), assuring that the result evolve into a unified European
approach to risk based maintenance and inspection planning
-
development of a
technical framework for a European standard and general future
standardisation in this area
-
training and
education (transfer of technology) in the above areas and with above
priorities, including requirements to the contents of an analysis,
personnel qualifications and tools
-
dissemination of
RIMAP (RTD & Demonstration project)results to other non-EU
industry.
This will be archived in
a series of action (tasks) covering:
-
Network Management
(incl. Strategy and Plans and Socio-Economic Aspects)
-
Day-to-day operation
of the network, including:
- Training and
Education
- Standardization and
- Dissemination,
EU Policies and RTD Exploitation
The Thematic
focuses on
exchange of information between the network and the RTD project,
harmonisation and co-ordination, and disseminating RIMAP results
through fora such as: the European Pressure Equipment Research Council
(EPERC) as well as the European regulatory bodies and the industry
groups addressed in RIMAP. Within the activities of RIMAP Network
potential third parties interested in RIMAP results will be identified
(e.g. consultancy companies, legislative bodies, etc). Co-operation
with this wide range of organisations through the RIMAP network is
intended to last throughout the lifetime of the project, thus ensuring
successful exploitation as well as successful project. Furthermore, the
co-operation of RIMAP Network with other networks such as PRISM,
SAFETYNET, ELAPSE, EEMUA, EURISK, ENIQ and the contacts of the
individual partners are foreseen.
Apart from the
innovation
aspects of the RIMAP RTD & Demonstration project, like integration
of maintenance (RCM) and inspection (RBI) into a uniform decision
process, use of probabilistic decision analysis for process systems,
and combining the theoretical modelling of plant failure ("hard"
knowledge) with plant experience ("soft" knowledge) will be developed
into a rational method, RIMAP Network will also introduce some
innovative aspects in dissemination and education, like e.g. web-based
teaching courses.
