Despite the availability of ICT tools and infrastructures, civil engineers and consultants still don't take advantage in their daily activities of the eBusiness scheme which may open the door of the global market to providers of specialized consulting services. This perspective may allow even small consulting offices to get in contact with potential clients all over the world widening enormously their commercial possibilities. Legal and contractual problems at present still hinder such perspective.
“eContracting” is the IT-supported creation, negotiation, closing and performance of contracts. eContracts can drastically help accelerate the contracting process since they overcome media breaks and lengthy process wait states. Geodeco participated in a European funded project eLEGAL about Legal in ICT under the IST Programme. More detailed information about the project can be found here. Role of Geodeco in eLEGAL: Contribute to the requirement phase; Test the Contract Editor for the remote consulting service developed in ISTforCE in order to guarantee legal validity to engineering consulting services offered through Internet; Perform a demostration of the two environments combined; Use the Contract Editor for real remote consulting services.
